The best part of our California trip was the time we shared with family. Precious memories were made as they always are when you are with ones you dearly love.
Two of my nieces shared memories they had of me from their childhood. It really touched my heart to know they recalled with fondness special times we had spent together years ago.
I also enjoyed listening to all of the family antidotes, you know those stories that are always relived at family gatherings. The ones that are crazy scary (or just plain crazy) when you are going through them but make really good stories years later. I'd love to share some of those with you all, but I might get excommunicated from the family. Some of us are still living stories for future tellings, right Lu?
Family stories are the best. It reminded me of when I was a little girl and we would go and visit my grandparents. I would always sleep with my grandmother. She would tell me stories deep into the night. I wish I could remember them now. I also remember the times we kids had to go to sleep before the adults, and I would drift into that hazy place between awake and asleep, and hear the pleasant hum of adult conversation. Occasionally they would drop a name I recognized and my ears would perk up, but mostly I just drifted off to the sound of people who loved each other catching up on all they had missed in each other's lives during their time apart.
I still have plenty of scenic pictures to share, but the one today is of the things I like most about California: family.
Have you and Jim ever counted the whole family?
ReplyDeleteHa! No, never thought of it. Pictured here is only part of his brother's family.
