International Overall Day

Today was International Overall Day.  I'm sad to say I'm the only one I saw in overalls today.  Overalls were the first thing my Poppy bought for each of my four brothers when they were born, and every memory I have of him he was wearing a pair, mostly the carpenter style.  When he died they buried him in a suit, and it just didn't feel right to me.  I asked Mimi if I could have a pair of his, and she gave them to me.  I still have them.  My kids were toddlers during the time Osh Kosh overalls were in style, and most of my pictures of them are in different colors of overalls.  With all of these emotional ties to this form of britches I simply had to don a pair today, even if I seemed a little out of step with trends and the times.

  1. Hi Mindy, thanks a lot for your contribution to the celebration, and your comment on my blog, it makes me so happy and somehow I have at last found my folks, not telling me to wear some "modern" and "proper" clothes, but on the contrary share my wish to make each day to a joyful day by very simple means ! and it is a fantastic photo, you are really looking proud of wearing overalls and it reminds me of a photo in the flickr album, see link on my blog of a young girl in overalls going back to her great-grandfather ! all the best from Niels bibprofessor
